Intimate Immersion Poetry Workshop with Elizabeth Jacobson

Poet Elizabeth Jacobson returns to CCA with her popular workshop series Intimate Immersion. During this four-week virtual intensive participants will focus on generating new poems, critiquing each other’s work, revising their poems, and looking at elements of craft.

Dates:

Four Thursdays November 30, December 7, 14, and 21

Virtual class time: 4:30pm ­– 6:30pm (via Zoom)

Each meeting, participants will be invited to present a new poem for a workshop discussion. Contemporary poems will be provided as a catalyst for the following week’s writing prompt.

This workshop opportunity is an intimate, focused immersion to reinforce each participant’s writing practice and foster the evolution of their poems.

Tuition (includes four session): $250

Register early as class size is limited to 8 participants. The workshop will take place via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent after registration.

About Elizabeth Jacobson:

Elizabeth Jacobson’s third collection of poems, There are as Many Songs in the World as Branches of Coral, will be published in 2024 by Free Verse Editions. Her previous full-length collection, Not into the Blossoms and Not into the Air (Free Verse Editions, 2019) won the New Measure Poetry Prize, and the 2019 New Mexico-Arizona Book Award for both New Mexico Poetry and Best New Mexico Book. 

Elizabeth was the fifth Poet Laureate of Santa Fe, New Mexico and an Academy of American Poets 2020 Laureate Fellow. Her poems have been published in many literary journals including the American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, Plume, the Los Angeles Review, Lana Turner, and her community projects have received eight consecutive grants from the Witter Bynner Foundation for Poetry. She is also a reviews editor for the on-line magazine,Terrain.org.
