Two men and dog stand at a beach together, separated

On a remote island off the coast of Ireland during the Irish Civil War, Pádraic is devastated when his buddy Colm suddenly puts an end to their lifelong friendship. With help from his sister and a troubled young islander, Pádraic sets out to repair the damaged relationship by any means necessary. However, as Colm’s resolve only strengthens, he soon delivers an ultimatum that leads to shocking consequences. The Banshees of Inisherin is a black comedy from the heart of Ireland.

Martin McDonagh’s (In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri) is described by Deadline as a story which “hinges on a small and amusing conceit, one that would not immediately suggest that it could be sustained throughout a nearly two-hour film. But McDonagh, with his seasoning in legit theater and long-proven ingenuity at spinning a mere anecdote into a full-bodied work of substance, continues to sustain interest in what’s going on at a high level through a mixture of unanticipated twists and turns and pointed serious moments.”

The Banshees of Inisherin opens Nov 11. In the meantime, check out what’s now showing and what else is upcoming.
