An Accompanying Exhibition for CALL ME A PUSSY
with work from Kate Russell in collaboration with Laura Stokes
On view for ticket holders 1-hour prior to showtime | Spector Ripps Gallery
In this collaborative, multimedia project, photographer Kate Russell and performer Laura Stokes expand upon the themes explored and embodied in Stokes’s one-woman live performance, CALL ME A PUSSY. Russell’s sharp imagery employs a theatrical flair, reflecting the intensity and experience of Stokes’s live performance, penetrating the oversaturated world of commercialism and media culture.
SUBVERT creates new stages out of common environments that emphasize the spectacle that is life itself, illustrating the absurdity of capitalism, power structures, and the simple act of being a woman in today’s world. Using familiar environments as theatrical sets, SUBVERT offers cathartic commentary on the issues that live quietly under the surface of daily life.
The exhibition is on view to CALL ME A PUSSY audiences one hour prior to showtime—7pm doors open, 8pm showtime. Get tickets for CALL ME A PUSSY here.
