Poetry Open Mic

with Alexandra Jo, Adrian Coffey, Sonya Burke
June 11, 7pm | Sliding Scale Donation

Open Field is a creative writing initiative that enriches the Santa Fe community with poetry by local and national writers. The initiative builds artistic community by providing a platform for shared creative expression. Open Field is open to work by emerging, mid-career, and established poets. The project is organized by CCA with the Consulting Curator of Poetry, Alexandra Jo. Open Field puts poetry in front of the public in slides shown before CCA films, and will culminate in an open mic event at CCA on June 11th, 2022 at 7:00 pm. Featured poets are Alexandra Jo, Adrian Coffey and Sonya Burke, followed by a poetry open mic.

To participate in the open mic event please sign up by emailing Alexandra Jo, the Consulting Curator of Poetry, by June 8.

Alexandra Jo is a visual artist, poet, and death care worker. She received her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2014. Alexandra’s poetry is a direct and pure expression of the self which reflects the sensation of filling up with an experience and spilling it directly onto the page. Her writing practice explores relationships with nature and other people, as well as deeper aspects of her own queer identiy. Her work uses language and the elasticity of meaning to orbit the ineffable. Alexandra currently lives in Madrid, NM with her two cats.

Adrian Coffey has been serving the community of Santa Fe for a little over five years. He is deeply passionate about being compassionate, and attempts to connect with the community over serving beautiful coffee. His desire to conceptualize beauty in his work can be seen in his visual art and poetry, which aims to articulate the beauty in the otherwise mundane.
