Keif: Jon Moritsugu graduated from the same school that Todd Haynes did around the same time, maybe a year or so after. And so he had trained in semiotics and a lot of big heady philosophical, post-modern stuff. He wanted to kind of incorporate that with the real off-the-cuff punk-rock style. All of his movies had a sense of humor, I don’t think he ever made a totally serious film. It’s a little bit in the vein of John Waters satire and George Kuchar.

He’s been in Santa Fe for a while. We did a show of his work Pig Death Machine a couple years back, and he’s always a really nice guy.
