Tokyo Cowboy

September 6

From the hustle and bustle of Tokyo to the vast natural beauty of Montana… What does an efficiency-first businessman discover about the richness of life?

Montana is known as “Big Sky Country” because of the endless sky. Hideki comes to a ranch to turn it around and presents his grand plan in his usual suit, but it soon hits a dead end. In the midst of all the trouble, he takes off his suit and dresses up in a cowboy outfit, as the Romans do, and while interacting with people who live with nature and animals, he has a life-changing encounter.

Hideki is an office worker at a major food trading company in Tokyo. In order to monetize the company’s struggling ranch in Montana he proposes switching to Wagyu beef, which is highly prized in Japan.

In Montana, where the sky and the earth stretch out endlessly, the common sense of Tokyo does not apply, and Hideki soon finds himself in trouble. As he interacts with locals who enjoy a laid-back, down-to-earth lifestyle, he begins to realize the charm of the land, changes from his suit to cowboy clothes, and actively helps out with the work on the ranch. He also participates in large-scale cattle drives and, as he becomes more friendly with the ranch workers, he begins to reexamine his own work style, which has always been focused on efficiency. Before long, Hideki begins to think of a new plan to rebuild the ranch…
