October 27, 2025 @ 1:00 pm

This Renesan Course is 4 sessions. The ticket purchase below is for all 4 sessions, October 27th, November 3rd, 10th, and 17th. This Renesan Course takes place at 1pm at SJUMC.

Renesan Course Information:
“Ralph Ellison’s 1952 novel Invisible Man is among the most important novels in the African American canon. We will read the book in its entirety and Richard Wright’s novella “”The Man Who Lived Underground,”” focusing on how both writers’ vision of “”the underground”” created work that is simultaneously rebellious, subversive, and patriotic. (Participants must provide their own copies.) We may also examine short stories from other writers that illustrate the themes of invisibility, double consciousness, and the approaches of African American humor, satire, and code-switching that culminate in Invisible Man.”
