Littleglobe Community Storytellers

A celebration, screening, and benefit for Littleglobe’s Community Storytellers project

Littleglobe, Santa Fe’s multi-arts storytelling nonprofit, is raising money for the third cohort (2024) of Community Storytellers.

The Community Storytellers Program, created over the past couple years in partnership with grassroots neighborhood-based organizations and allies, provides the tools and training for people to tell their own stories, authoring their first films. In this way, stories are not told about people, but by them. Littleglobe believes that communities thrive when all members are seen and heard. This is an important form of equity, keeping power and self-determination in the hands of the residents who call this place home.

Littleglobe piloted this project with a cohort of 11 participants in 2022 with generous support from the New Mexico Humanities Council and NEA-Art Works. Littleglobe offers $500 stipends for 12 storytellers to participate in the Community Storytellers project.

This project is inspired by the work of the Manitos Community Memory Project, an initiative to establish community-based digital cultural heritage archives grounded in the living culture of the villages of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. Working with Dr. Estevan Rael-Galvez and Shane Flores, Littleglobe has adapted this program to the specific needs and demographics of Santa Fe.

At this Littleglobe special event, you will see local video stories created by past project participants, meet participants in person and talk about their experience, and learn how to get involved with this innovative, local media project.
