Foundations of Film: The Passion of Cinema Narrative – A Special Evening of Film and Discussion

December 11 @ 6:30 pm

Join us at CCA December 11th at 6:30pm for the next edition of Foundations of Film: The Passion of Cinema Narrative – A Special Evening of Film and Discussion

St. John’s College Tutor – and CCA Board Member – David Carl and IAIA Cinema Studies professor David Meyer present and dissect an international evening of film segments chosen for their visual/cinematic brilliance. This is a night for curious movie lovers, passionate cineastes and anyone who wants to know more about how and why movies work.

Cinema Narrative explores the story-telling cinema and narrative visual techniques of unique directors with recognizable visual styles. In studying their cinematic solutions to narrative movement, the class will span over eight decades of cinema. Cinema Narrative will explore, through film clips and discussion, how these directors enrich the drama of their stories with cinematography, editing, mis-en-scene, pace and emphasis

– all the directorial arts. Mr. Carl and Mr. Meyer will explore each filmmaker’s visual storytelling and narrative techniques.

There will be time only for brief audience discussions of each clip and time for a thorough discussion at the end of the program.
