Position Summary

The Cinema Host will assist the CCA Team in the continued expansion of the Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA) as a leading cultural institution in Northern New Mexico with local and national impact. While this position works with the CCA team, the Cinema Host reports to the Cinema Operations Manager and plays a key role in ensuring accurate, efficient, and friendly customer service during regular cinema open hours and special events in support of CCA’s mission.

Part-time; $15/hr

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Visitor Services

  • Offer a warm and enthusiastic welcome to all guests, in person, and on the phone
  • Check voicemail as needed and respond or forward to appropriate staff as needed
  • Keep abreast of CCA cinema and gallery programming to provide customers with timely and correct information
  • Promote rentals of cinema spaces
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times

Box Office and Concessions

  • Ensure accurate and efficient sales of admission, concessions, etc.
  • Keep the box office and lobby spaces clean and orderly
  • Practice food safety handling and good judgment when serving concessions
  • Keep the box office and concessions items stocked and organized
  • Maintain an inventory of concessions, alerting management if things need to be ordered
  • Utilize point of sale system to make all sales transactions
  • Create a sales report at the end of each shift, using anomalies form as needed
  • Open, maintain, and close the register with accuracy and accountability
  • Communicate the need for change with the Cinema Operations Manager or Associate Director of Operations as needed
  • Maintain daily data collection spreadsheets
  • Be familiar with how to use audio/visual assistant devices
  • Clean and vacuum the theater between all screenings
  • Clean all theater and lobby surfaces and equipment thoroughly at the end of each shift
  • Ensure all dishes and food service equipment is clean at end of every shift

Facilities

  • Clean bathrooms, floors, doors, etc. each shift as scheduled
  • Check restrooms between every screening and spot clean as needed
  • Clean up spills and other messes immediately
  • Pick up trash and debris as needed (interior and exterior)
  • Take out trash and recycling as needed and at end of each shift

Events

  • Supports CCA during special events and rentals as requested

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work flexible shifts and weekends
  • Cinema interest and background are strongly preferred 
  • Ability to comfortably lift 25 pounds
  • Spanish fluency is a plus
