Human Highway

Thursday, August 4 | 6:30pm
with an introduction from Lost Padre Records owner, George Casey
presented by CCA & Lost Padre Records

In the next installment of CCA & Lost Padre Records’ music + film series, CCA Amplified, we’re sharing the recently unearthed oddity of rock ‘n’ roll history, Neil Young’s absurdist nuclear musical comedy is as strange as it is laugh-out-loud funny. Featuring plutonium-grade weirdos Devo and Dennis Hopper, the film centers on a roadside diner neighboring a leaking nuclear power plant. What follows is surreal slapstick with musical interludes galore, culminating in a must-see version of “My My, Hey Hey” fronted by Devo’s own masked singer Booji Boy. This ranks up there with cult classics such as True Stories and even Purple Rain in terms of rockstar vanity projects at their most pure, entertaining and strange. Plus, much of it was shot in Taos, New Mexico!
