RAVEN CHACON | YOUNG NATIVE COMPOSER AND NOISE MUSICIAN Contact: Martin Back 505.982.1338 x22, martin@ccasantafe.org The work of composer Raven Chacon ranges from quiet and contemplative—at times nearly silent—music for classical chamber instruments and ensembles to performances of noise music involving conceptual iconography on instruments devised by Chacon for his own purposes. His works have been performed and exhibited in the US as well as in Europe, Canada, Mexico, and New Zealand. In addition, Chacon has received commissions from the VERGE Ensemble in Washington DC, the University of Mary Washington, and the ERGO Ensemble of Toronto. Recent projects include performing with the West Coast noise trio KILT, in Albuquerque’s improvisational collective known as Cobra // group, and many other groups in the Southwest. On Saturday, July 19th, at 8pm, Chacon will perform two noise songs consisting of “singing drum” and other electronics. On Sunday, July 20th, at 3pm Chacon will conduct a two-part workshop, open to all musicians, involving processes he has developed in order to conduct improvising ensembles and utilizing John Zorn’s ‘Cobra,’ a system of conducting using cue cards that give instructions to the players. Musicians bringing electric instruments must bring some means of amplification. Call to attend: 982.1338 |

AUDIO BUDDHA WITH THE UNBORN SOUL Audio Buddha is a trinity of musicians whose intention is to immerse in and explore the medium of music to access the divine and embody it in performance. Weaving together the elements of synthesized trance music, violin and voice, their tapestry of sound is dynamic, unique and profound. The music ranges from driving trance to melodic ambient, creating the space for all things to emerge. AudioBuddha have chosen their CCA appearance to celebrate the release of their new album! |

SUPERMARKET PERFORMANCE Supermarket is an experimental dose of original electronic music and imagery, delivered with equal emphasis. Break beats of varying tempo ranging from dub and glitch to dancehall and drum ‘n’ bass are met with video, animated and celluloid imagery ranging from the abstract to the sampled and remixed. While Dan Monceaux jams out to sequenced beats and collected samples on his retro analogue synthesizers, Emma Sterling spends her time shooting and cutting visual material—everything from found footage to original celluloid shot in vintage cameras—scratched, manipulated and projected.
