David Wood installation in Albuquerque

DAVID WOOD
SPIRAL RESONANCE FIELD
JULY 2009 - NOVEMBER 2009

Connecting earth and sky, and providing an ever-changing experience with the movement of the sun, wind, light and dark, Spiral Resonance Field is a field installation sculpture by Nashville artist and Vanderbilt University professor of philosophy David Wood immediately north of the Anderson-Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum.

The Spiral Resonance Field is a swirling double spiral of white poles, crowned with solar lights and accented with laserdiscs. The sculpture plunges into the ground at a central vortex, and climbs out of its crater at the edges. Two Aeolian harps resonate with the sound of the wind. This installation "emerges" at the Center for Contemporary Art in Santa Fe as a small spiral and, in virtual reality, at Mountainair, knitting together all three LAND/ART sites.
